Mid-size minibus charters

A minibus with driver for groups of 20 to 35

Book a mid-size bus for a wedding, a conference shuttle or a day out. It turns into hotel drives, estate lanes and city blocks more easily than a full coach, and it suits groups carrying day bags.

Is a minibus the right size?

Seats, luggage and where it can go.

01

Seat counts vary by model

Minibuses in this class seat between about 20 and 35 passengers, and the exact number depends on the vehicle and its layout. Every rider needs a seat, including chaperones and the trip lead. If your headcount sits near the top of the range, ask for the vehicle's exact seat count in the quote, because a 32-seat bus cannot take 35 people.

  • ✓Exact seat count in the quote
  • ✓A few spare seats for late additions

02

Less room for suitcases

A minibus carries far less luggage than a motorcoach. Some models have a rear compartment, others only overhead racks or floor space, and it varies by vehicle. For an airport run, count suitcases as well as people. Thirty travelers with checked bags may need a full-size coach, or a minibus plus a Sprinter for the luggage.

  • ✓Suitcase count on the request
  • ✓Carry-ons and backpacks fit best
  • ✓Second vehicle for heavy luggage

03

Easier to place at the curb

A shorter bus turns into hotel entrances, venue driveways and narrow streets where a full-size coach struggles. That helps at estates such as Old Westbury Gardens and on busy downtown blocks during a city tour. Size does not change the road rules: buses of any length are barred from New York's parkways, so the driver uses expressways and interstates.

  • ✓Fits tighter drop-off points
  • ✓Parkway bans still apply

Common uses

Where a 20–35 seat bus fits best.

Weddings

Guests from the hotel to the ceremony, then on to the reception, with a set time for the last run back. Venue driveways that turn away a coach often take a minibus.

Corporate shuttles

Loops between a hotel and a conference venue such as Chase Center on the Riverfront, timed around session breaks and the evening reception.

Airport runs

Arrivals and departures at JFK, LGA, PHL, IAD or PIT for a team or tour group. Send flight numbers so pickup times match landing times.

City tours

A half-day loop through a downtown with photo stops. A shorter vehicle has more options for curbside pickups where coach parking is scarce.

School groups

Class trips to museums such as the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Tell us the student and chaperone count and any school paperwork you need from us.

Garden and farm visits

Clubs and senior groups heading to Phipps Conservatory or Stone Barns, where a guided group of 35 or fewer is easy to manage.

Choosing a size

Minibus or another vehicle?

Headcount and luggage together decide the vehicle. Use this as a starting point and we confirm the fit when we quote.

FAQ

Minibus rental questions

Didn't find your answer? Call (929) 831-5150 — a coordinator will help.

How do I know whether my group fits a 20–35 seat minibus?▼

Start with the full headcount, including children, chaperones and anyone helping run the day, because each person needs a seat. Seat counts in this class vary by model, so if you are close to the upper end, ask for the exact count on the vehicle we quote. A group that may grow by a few people is safer in a larger bus.

Will our suitcases fit for an airport transfer?▼

Carry-ons and backpacks are usually manageable. Large checked bags are the problem, since luggage space on a minibus is limited and differs from model to model. Tell us how many suitcases are coming when you request the quote. For a full group with checked bags, a motorcoach, or a minibus paired with a Sprinter for luggage, is often the better choice.

Does a minibus have a restroom on board?▼

Many minibuses in this size range do not, though some models do. If a restroom matters for your trip, say so on the quote request and we look for a vehicle that has one. For rides of two hours or more without one, plan a short stop on the way, and build that time into the schedule.

Can a minibus use the parkways in New York or near Washington?▼

Not New York's parkways. Commercial vehicles, buses included, are banned from Long Island and Westchester parkways such as the Northern State, Southern State, Saw Mill River and Hutchinson River, many of which have low overpasses. In Virginia, the George Washington Memorial Parkway needs a National Park Service special use permit for commercial vehicles. Drivers plan routes on expressways and interstates instead.
