Types of buses you can charter
1. Motorcoach: the usual choice for long-distance travel
If you are traveling with a large group and want the most comfort and amenities, a motorcoach is usually the best option.
- Seats 50+ passengers
- Ideal for: long-distance trips, corporate events, school field trips and sports teams
- Typical features:
- Reclining seats with more legroom
- Climate control (air conditioning and heating)
- Onboard restroom on most coaches
- Overhead racks and under-floor luggage bays
Motorcoaches suit out-of-town trips to places like the Poconos, Washington, D.C. or Upstate New York. They give a smooth ride that makes long journeys easier.
2. Minibus: the flexible mid-size option
Need transportation for a medium-sized group? A minibus works well for shorter trips and city travel.
- Seats 18–35 passengers
- Ideal for: corporate shuttles, airport transfers, weddings and private group outings
- Typical features:
- Comfortable padded seats
- Air-conditioned interior
- Compact size for NYC streets
Minibuses are a good fit for wedding guest shuttles, conference transportation or airport transfers, with a comfortable ride and no empty seats to pay for.
3. School bus: the classic, practical option
For school trips, summer camps and budget-conscious group outings, a school bus is a safe and practical choice.
- Seats about 40–45 passengers
- Ideal for: field trips, summer camps, church groups and local event transportation
- Typical features:
- Built to school bus safety standards, with emergency exits (seat belts vary by vehicle)
- Usually the lowest-cost option for a large group
- Best for short-distance travel
School buses are a cost-effective way to move large student groups to museums, zoos and historical sites in NYC. They also work for youth retreats and community service events. See our school bus rental page.
